Continuing Education Credit for Brokers and Appraisers
Sponsored by the Lewis White Real Estate Center and their advisory board.
Join your peers to learn, network and get six hours of MO and KS CE credit. You will hear experts speak about local, national and global economic trends and how these forces impact the real estate industry and your business.
The theme of this year’s symposium continues to be the need for commercial real estate leaders to be resilient and agile amidst disruptive forces that are changing the norms of the workforce, workplace, and expectations and habits of the American consumer. These forces include our demographics and the accelerating pace of change in artificial intelligence, climate variation, geopolitics, and regulations.
- Our keynote speaker is Esther George, retired president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. Her Federal Reserve service spans more than 40 years, including considerable experience as a bank supervisor in Washington, D.C. She led the Fed’s national effort to establish instant retail payments known as the FedNow Service that ensures the smooth and efficient functioning of the nation’s payment system. She also hosted the Kansas City Fed's annual Jackson Hole International Economic Policy Symposium. She currently serves on several boards, including as board chair of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation Board of Trustees, the Hallmark Corporation, the Peterson Institute for International Economics, and the Kansas City 2026 World Cup. George is a frequent commentator on macroeconomic trends on CNBC’s Squawk Box, Bloomberg, and a variety of educational and civic organizations.
-
Learn from Bart Lowen, Vice President of Development for Price Brothers, about what makes Bluhawk such a pioneering mixed-use project. Replacing yesterday’s department store anchored model with sports plus experience plus marketplace. Creating a new destination where youth sports plus tourism plus shopping take flight. Represented by Price Brothers’ most recent mixed-use development, Bluhawk, is an economic driver for the community it serves, bringing consumers’ desires into one seamless experience-focused destination. Learn more about the Bluhawk model, a first-of-its-kind youth sports facility and anchored retail destination, launching at its original location in Overland Park but also taking flight in other markets around the U.S.
- Glenn Mueller, Professor of Real Estate and Construction Management at the University of Denver, will explain his Real Estate Cycle Forecast. He analyzes occupancy movements in five property types in more than 50 Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) and will share insights about how our KC market has performed relative to comparable cities.
Continuing the theme of resilience and agility in light of disruptive forces, other speakers will discuss the latest CRE thought leadership on these timely topics:
- Financial sustainability in community design and planning — Urban3 from Ashville will visually show how to connect the short- and long-term fiscal situations of communities and provide suggestions for those that want to rectify their shortfalls.
- Accounting, tax and legal changes — CBIZ and Polsinelli will provide the latest updates on accounting and legal changes that CRE professionals and owners should be aware of and understand.
- AI, data centers and energy — A panel of experts from JE Dunn, CBRE, and Evergy will discuss the fastest growing CRE asset class, the evolution in how these projects are financed, and how the assets are valued, as well as the implications for energy usage, availability, and potential costs for the communities they're located in.
