Edward A. Smith Leadership Intern Program

What is special about this opportunity?

    • Full-time, paid internship in a non-profit or government organization.
    • Significant Stipend: $7,000 for the ten-week period: June 3 - August 9, 2024.
    • One-on-one faculty mentoring with Professor Brent Never.
    • Leadership Seminar done concurrently, carrying 1-3 elective credit hours. Leadership readings, self-reflection, group discussions, writing, and insights about:
      • Their leadership strengths and development areas; and
      • Effective leadership practices within organizations.

    In addition, the program is an excellent resume-builder and provides an opportunity to join a professional network with Edward Smith Intern alumni now working at companies like Cerner, Ernst & Young, Kansas City Southern Lines, Ford, Federal Reserve Bank, BKD, HUD, State Street Bank, American Red Cross and Google Fiber.

Who is eligible?

Any MBA, MSA, MPA, MSF, MERE or junior/senior BBA or BSA student who:

  • Is enrolled in a Bloch School degree program in the winter/spring term of 2024, but is graduating December 2024 or beyond.
  • Has a GPA of 3.2 or higher.
  • Has excellent oral and written English communication skills.
  • Is keenly interested in, and committed to, personal leadership development.
  • Has a reliable means of transportation.
  • Can commit to a full-time, 40+ hours per week (paid) position from June 3 -August 9. Typical work hours are 8:30am - 5:30pm Monday to Friday with most weekends free.

Up to five Bloch students may be selected for the program.
