As a transfer student, I was looking for a school that offered both a logical and meaningful second half of my college experience. After instantly clicking with the culture at UMKC, I’ve genuinely enjoyed the purposeful time I’ve spent here.
What piece of advice would you share with high school students or transfer students that are just beginning their college search process?
Look for a place that supports both your professional goals and personal growth. Change can be intimidating, but it’s a sign of progress, so don’t shy away from opportunities that challenge you.
How do you (or do you plan to) find balance between school and your personal life?
As someone who likes to stay busy, I’ve learned that burnout is common but also preventable. Scheduling time to decompress in ways that work for me, and being honest when I need help, keeps things balanced.
What is your favorite thing about Kansas City? What parts of Kansas City are you excited to explore?
My favorite thing about Kansas City is its culture and how easy it is to find people who match your energy. I’ve met great people and learned a lot about myself while living here, and I’m excited to keep exploring new parts of the city both next semester and whenever I visit in the future.
