I toured schools all across the country from UCLA in California to U Miami in Florida, and nothing made me feel as seen, heard, and wanted as I felt when I toured UMKC. I felt as though I belonged here and knew that I would be met with a plethora of opportunities, caring professors, and a school of like-minded individuals who yearn to succeed.
What piece of advice would you share with high school students or transfer students that are just beginning their college search process?
Get comfortable talking. I mean to peers, professors, professionals, mentors, tutors, advisors, and everyone in between. UMKC has a lengthy list of resources that they provide to make your college experience a smooth transition, but you must advocate for yourself and talk to people! People want to know you here!
How do you (or do you plan to) find balance between school and your personal life?
I utilize google calendar for school assignments, but also for social activities so that I can see exciting things ahead and not got lost in the grind of being a full-time student and avoid early burn-out!
What is your favorite thing about Kansas City? What parts of Kansas City are you excited to explore?
Something about the Chiefs Kingdom just makes me feel at home. Football fan or not, Arrowhead and the team itself brings life to Kansas City and everyone who lives here. I hope to explore north of the river more though!
