It was the opportunities that were available, the campus in general, as well as the community of people within UMKC who all want to see you succeed. If it weren’t for so many amazing people here who helped me get involved and explore campus, I would not be who or where I am today.
What piece of advice would you share with high school students or transfer students that are just beginning their college search process?
I know it is scary for some but once you step on campus it’s a whole different world, it’s not like high school, it’s different. So, choose a college that fits your goals, morals, study and supports you throughout your whole college career as well as has organizations that you are interested in, getting involved is just as important, caters towards your success as a student personally and professionally.
How do you (or do you plan to) find balance between school and your personal life?
Theres a happy medium for it all, where having a simple day-to-day balance between school and my personal life has a role. Studying or tasks may take up some days and personal things may surface too, but trying not to burn out or fixate on just one aspect of my life has been beneficial and a learning experience because it all needs to be balanced where taking time for professional and a step back for personal growth is just as important.
What is your favorite thing about Kansas City? What parts of Kansas City are you excited to explore?
My favorite thing about Kansas City is that it is very welcoming, there is also so many cultural attractions I have been the Nelson-Atkins Museum so much it is just lovely there. I am excited to explore Union Station and the National WWI Museum!
