Who is my advisor and how do I schedule an appointment?

If you are pursuing the following degrees – MBA, M.P.A., M.S.A., M.S.E.R.E. or M.S.F. and have a last name that begins with the letters A-K, Olivia Miller is your advisor. Olivia can be reached at 816-235-5126 or

When do I have to meet with an advisor?

If you are a new student, you will need to meet with your advisor prior to your starting semester.

At the mid-point of your program, we encourage you to meet with your advisor to put a Program of Study together.

Prior to your final semester, you will meet with your advisor to ensure you have completed the Application for Graduation and all necessary coursework.

What if I’m running late or need to cancel my appointment?

If you are running late for a scheduled appointment, please let your advisor know. If you are more than 15 minutes late, and do not confirm that your advisor will still be able to meet with you despite your delay, your appointment will be cancelled and you will need to reschedule.

UMKC offers many support services to help you succeed.

Bloch Tutoring: Tutoring assistance is available to students in Graduate level Accounting and Finance Courses. Students should also contact faculty directly for additional resources.

Counseling Center: Offers short-term counseling for students to manage their personal mental health.

Financial Aid & Scholarships: Offers help with everything related to aid and awards.

LGBTQIA Programs & Services: Provides LGBTQIA students with resources and supports on campus.

Student Disability Services: Works with students to establish accommodation plans for documented disabilities.

Student Health & Wellness: Offers evaluation and treatment of acute illness and stable chronic illness for UMKC students.

The Writing Studio at UMKC: Provides assistance with any aspect of writing, from class assignments to personal projects.
