Schedule Your Appointment Now

On campus and have a quick advising question? Drop-in our office, BHH 115, from 12:30-3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. We ask that you please wear a mask and social distancing will be observed. While most advising appointments will be over Zoom or by phone, we have a limited number of on-campus appointments available. Please make sure to schedule your appointment through UMKC Connect.

Who is my advisor?

We assigned undergraduate students to one of four advisors by the first letter of your last name:

CHEREE EDWARDS, Sr. Academic Advisor
Phone: 816-235-5314
Phone: 816-235-2253
CINDY THOMPSON, Sr. Academic Advisor
Phone: 816-235-2216

To confirm your assigned academic advisor, log into UMKC Connect, select the menu in the top left corner, select “My Success Network”. Your advisor should be your first option under “Your Connections”, with “Assigned Academic Advisor” list under their name.

When do I have to meet with an advisor?

We encourage you to meet with your advisor regularly—once a semester is a good goal—to check in on your degree progress, make sure that you are on-track for graduation, and to get up to speed on the latest course offerings from the Bloch School. Depending on your undergraduate level and degree program you may also have required advising appointments:

Degree or Level Advising Required? How Often?
Freshman Yes Required each semester before registration
Sophomore No
Junior Yes Required each semester before registration
Senior No
Business Minor Yes
Entrepreneurship Minor Yes
New Student Yes Required prior to registration of first semester at the Bloch School (regardless of undergrad level)
Launchpad Scholar Yes Required once per academic year until graduation
What if I’m running late or need to cancel my appointment?

If you need to make a last-minute appointment cancellation, please call us at 816-235-2215.

If you are running late for a scheduled appointment, please let your advisor know. If you are more than 15 minutes late, and do not confirm that your advisor will still be able to meet with you despite your delay, your appointment will be cancelled and you will need to reschedule.
