Meet Our Students

Spencer Nelson grew up in Kansas City and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor's degree in economics. After graduation, he was commissioned as an officer in the Marine Corps and went onto Quantico, VA, where he received his officer training and was designated as a logistics officer. After completing logistics training in North Carolina, he was sent to work at 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines out of Camp Pendleton, CA. During his time there, Spencer deployed twice to the Pacific Region as part of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit where he assisted with multi-national training exercises and humanitarian relief efforts. During his time in the military, Spencer held the positions of Ground Safety Program Manager, Motor Transport Platoon Commander, Embarkation Officer, and Logistics Officer. Upon completion of his second deployment, Spencer was honorably discharged from active duty.

Outside of work, Spencer and his wife enjoy being active, spending time with family, and following the Chiefs and Royals. He enjoyed building relationships and learning from his fellow classmates and the MBA faculty. Post-MBA, Spencer accepted a position as a Logistics Operations Manager at Clinical Reference Laboratory.
