After receiving an MBA in finance from the Warton School at the University of Pennsylvania, McDonnell returned to his native Kansas City to join DST Systems, a newly launched information processing and computer software services company. He served as president and CEO of DST Systems from 1973 to 2012, and was instrumental in the organization's explosive domestic and international growth.
McDonnell's entrepreneurial prowess has benefited numerous organizations including the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, where he served as President and Chief Executive Officer.
