Stephen Katsinas, Ph.D.
Stephen G. Katsinas is a leading scholar on postsecondary access and finance. His field work includes visits to 500 flagship and regional universities and community colleges in 45 states. He contributed to the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching's Basic Classification (2005, 2010), embedded in all federal data sets. He has been involved in programs of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation (Project ACCLAIM, Foundation for the Mid-South), the Ford Foundation (Urban Partnerships Program, Rural Community College Initiative), the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation (Alabama College Transfer Advising Corps demonstration program), and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (performance funding). His work has been presented at the White House Domestic Policy Issues Rural Council and the U.S. Department of Education five times each since 2011, and six times at the U.S. Department of Agriculture and at a congressional briefing hosted by Senator Thad Cochran. His research interests include high school to college transitions, access, policy and finance, transfer, and lay governance.
