Clara Bernauer

Graduate Research Assistant
Clara Bernauer graduated from the University of Kansas Honors Program in 2017 with a BA in English and minor in Physics. While at KU, she greatly enjoyed studying two seemingly dissimilar subjects and stretching herself to see the world from a perspective that encompasses both science and the humanities. The summer before her senior year, Clara interned with CORO Kansas City and rotated through placements in the Private, Public, Non-Profit, and Labor sectors. This was her first introduction to public administration as a discipline and public service as a career path.

Clara is currently pursuing her Master of Public Administration with an emphasis in Urban Policy and Administration through the UMKC Bloch School of Management. As a Cookingham Graduate Research Assistant, Clara has been afforded many opportunities to work closely with Dr. Williamson in both academic and community contexts on topics ranging from state housing policy to Collective Impact. Clara is also the current Budget Intern with the City of Olathe in their Department of Resource Management. Upon graduation, Clara hopes to pursue her passion for public service and community involvement through a career in local government.
