STRATEGIC BOARDS with IMPACT: NEW WORK and CHALLENGES

Learn how to build the capacity and effectiveness of your nonprofit board. A program for board and staff leadership.

Nonprofit boards of the future will face new and greater challenges and opportunities, from changes in technology to new demands for greater accountability.  Nonprofits are expected to demonstrate that they make a difference and that they are successfully addressing these new challenges. They require fully engaged members to succeed.  

Seminar Content

This three-day, intensive seminar examines ways in which board and staff members can increase their capacity and effectiveness as well as enjoy their service. 

  • Examination of how to recruit, build and maintain a strong, entrepreneurial board that brings future-oriented strategic leadership to an agency.  

  • Analysis of roles and expectations of board members.

  • Overview of creating a board/staff team that maximizes talents, commitment and rewards.

  • Understanding of how entrepreneurial boards join staff in developing new income streams, alliances and other nontraditional resources.

Fee Information:   $250 for one, and $235 for each additional agency representative (This multi-person discount is only available for the Strategic Boards’ course and not the other Fundraising certificate program courses)   Credit/Non-Credit Options available for this course. Full refunds will be given when cancellations are made at least five working days before the first class session.  A $50 cancellation fee will be deducted from refunds when notification occurs fewer than five working days before class begins.  No refunds will be made after the first session has begun.

Textbook Information: Please note there is a required textbooks for this course: 

BoardSource’s The Nonprofit Board Answer Book (2nd edition) – ISBN: 9780787994617.  It will be available at the University Bookstore located in the University Center (www.umkcbookstore.com).  You will find it in the Public Administration section (PA 455).
