William
C. Bergosh
Bill Bergosh began his not-for-profit
career as the District Director of the Muscular Dystrophy Association
for Kansas and western Missouri. Since that time he has held many
positions in administration and development for area not-for-profit
organizations. He is certified as a Certified Fund Raising Executive,
CFRE, by The National Society of Fund Raising Executives, (the
Association of Fund Raising Professional). Bill is currently the
President of the John Knox Village Foundation, a UMKC adjunct professor
and a Senior Fellow of the Midwest Center for Nonprofit Leadership. He
also does consulting work with nor-for-profit organizations in the areas
of strategic planning, fund development and organizational structure.
Robert
W. Buchanan, Ph.D.
In 1971 Bob began
his non-profit management and fund raising career while a professor at
Ottawa University. As
assistant dean he developed and marketed a non-traditional adult
education program in Kansas City and began working with alumni in fund
development. He became
Director of University Relations and coordinated the fund development
and public relations programs for the university.
In 1978 he became
development officer of Ozanam Home for Boys and completed a successful
capital campaign, strengthened the annual giving and special events
efforts and developed the planned giving program.
In 1983 he spent a
year wrapping up the capital campaign for the Folly Theater, a historic
restoration rental and presentation house in Kansas City.
In
January 1984 he established Buchanan & Henry Fund Raising Counsel and
spent the following eight years providing consulting services to such
clients as the Salvation Army, Little Sisters of the Poor, Harvesters,
UMKC, Friendship House, Rose Brooks Center, the Association of
Independent Hospitals and Associated Youth Services.
He has conducted feasibility studies, managed capital campaigns,
provided fund raising audits and presented many board and staff training
seminars.
From 1992-1999 Dr.
Buchanan was a principal in the firm of Bergosh, Buchanan and Associates
a full service fund raising firm in Kansas City, MO.
Currently Bob
provides fund development consulting and fund development staff coaching
to a variety of clients across the mid-west.
Bob is also an
Senior Fellow of the Mid-West Center for Nonprofit Leadership in the
Bloch School of Public Administration at the University of Missouri
Kansas City where he teaches in fund raising techniques, research and
proposal writing, major gifts and planned giving and fund raising trends
and ethics.
Bob is past
president of the Mid America Chapter of the National Society of Fund
Raising Executives, has served on the National Board of NSFRE.
He is active in the Greater Kansas City Council on Philanthropy,
the American Prospect Research Association, and the Mid-America Planned
Giving Council. Current community volunteer actives include Village
Presbyterian Church Respite Care Committee, Greater Kansas City Chapter
of the American Red Cross Marketing and Fund Development Committee, the
Association of Fundraising Professionals board (2005-2007) and Quality
Hill Playhouse board (2006-2008).
In
1993, Bob received the Excellence in Fund Raising Award from the
Greater Kansas City Council on Philanthropy.
