Sidne G. Ward is associate professor of management information systems at the Henry W. Bloch School of Business and Public Administration at UMKC. Ward received a B.A. in Russian Language and Literature and an M.B.A. from the University of Oklahoma. She holds a Ph.D. in Management from the Anderson School at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Ward's current research interests include browser and other information system user interfaces, cognitive biases, decision making and decision support systems, online auctions and electronic commerce, and information systems issues. She has conducted field studies of eBay, examining the consequences of bidder experience on performance, the differences between bidding behavior in live versus online auctions, and the effects of partitioned pricing of shipping charges on total revenue realized. She is currently investigating inconsistency of Web browser-based applications and resulting usability concerns.
Ward has published articles in International Journal of Electronic Commerce, The Journal of Computer Information Systems, Issues in Information Systems, Review of Business Information Systems, Management Science, and others. She has presented research at numerous conferences including the Americas Conference on Information Systems, the International Association for Computer Information Systems Conference, and the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science. Her research has also appeared in the proceedings of the International Conference on World Wide Web and the Western Decision Sciences Institute. Ward received a best paper award at the International Business and Economics Research Conference.
